Book Your Tai Chi Classes in Lewes

Structured group training, partner work, and private sessions

Tai Chi is a practice of balance, awareness, and steady movement. Classes are taught in a calm, structured way, with time to settle, learn, and build confidence step by step.

All group classes are held at the Lewes Subud Centre, Talbot Terrace (BN7 2DS).

There is a clear training pathway.
New students begin at Kickstarter Tai Chi - Beginners (KS1) when an intake is open, then progress into KS2, before moving on to Intermediate training and partner work as their practice develops.

How Booking Works

Group classes run in half-term blocks, aligned with school dates. Availability is shown during booking.

Term Blocks

Classes run in half-term blocks (usually 5–7 weeks).

Booking a term block:

  • reserves your place for the full block

  • applies to the block as a whole (not individual weeks)

Block booking supports continuity and structured learning.

Drop-In Classes

Drop-ins are only available for selected non-beginner classes and are clearly marked where applicable.

Beginner training is not taught as a drop-in.

Private One-to-One Sessions

Private sessions are available year-round.

  • Book a single session or a discounted block of four

  • Sessions must be prepaid

  • 24 hours’ notice is required for cancellations

🌱 Kickstarter Tai Chi – Beginners / KS1 (New Students)

The structured entry level for new students

Kickstarter Tai Chi Beginners / KS1 is the starting point for people new to Tai Chi.

Classes are taught step by step in a small group, with an emphasis on calm, accuracy, and clear foundations rather than performance. No flexibility, fitness, or prior experience is required.

Training introduces the fundamentals of posture, balance, coordination, and relaxation through the traditional 37-step Tai Chi form.

How KS1 works

  • KS1 runs in term blocks

  • Booked as a block only (no drop-ins)

  • Designed specifically for new students

  • A reduced starter rate is available for up to two consecutive blocks

After completing KS1, students continue automatically into KS2 at the same weekly time.

Availability is shown during booking. When KS1 has begun, the next intake opens at a later point in the year.

🌿 Kickstarter Tai Chi – KS2 (Continuing Students)

Continuation training following KS1

KS2 is for students who have completed KS1 and are continuing their training.

The focus remains on refining foundations: posture, whole-body coordination, relaxation, and accuracy within the 37-step form. Teaching continues to be calm, precise, and progressive.

How KS2 works

  • Runs in term blocks

  • For continuing students only

  • Not suitable for complete beginners

🌳 Intermediate Tai Chi (Form Training)

For students who have completed the beginner pathway

Intermediate training develops greater depth, continuity, and internal connection. Practice progresses into the 108-step Long Form, with attention to structure, precision, and integrated movement.

How it works

  • Term blocks open regularly

  • Drop-ins may be available where appropriate

🤝 Partner Work (Push Hands)

Developing sensitivity and application

Partner work develops balance, listening skill, and practical Tai Chi application through structured partner drills.

This class is best suited to students with a grounding in the 37-step form.

  • Drop-ins welcome

  • Term blocks also available for structured progression
